Addressing a press conference organized by the party´s publicity department at the party´s headquarters in Sanepa, they said the party general convention scheduled for September 17-21 would be a “unity convention”.[break]
NC Acting President Koirala said the convention would be historic as it would help do away the malpractices and shortcomings in the party. “The convention will give the party a new life by promoting democratic norms and values,” he said.
Koirala also expressed hope that the convention would help unite the party as this is the first convention after the unification of then NC (Democratic) with the mother party NC.
Speaking on the occasion, another presidential candidate Deuba said the 12th convention of the party holds historical significance as this is the first convention after Nepal became a federal democratic republic. “People are looking cautiously at the NC convention as the tasks of establishing sustainable peace, constitution drafting and integration of the Maoists combatants are yet to be completed,” he said.
On the occasion, NC Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Poudel said the country has expected a lot from the NC. “The competition within the party should promote cooperation and respect instead of fomenting conflict,” he said.
