‘Contours of Change in Nepal’ by Tika P. Dhakal out next week

KATHMANDU, May 14 : A new book by author and former presidential advisor Tika P. Dhakal, titled Contours of Change in Nepal: Power, Politics and Paradox, is scheduled to hit the shelves next week.


Published by Alchemy Publications, the book according to Dhakal, explores major political and diplomatic developments that have shaped Nepal’s recent trajectory. Dhakal examines key events such as the drafting of Nepal’s constitution, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact, Nepal-India relations, regional diplomacy, shifting geopolitical dynamics, and the ongoing transitional justice process.

The book is divided into 18 sections, combining revised versions of previously published articles, many with new postscripts, and several new, unpublished chapters. It also features select original documents, offering both public and unreleased materials that add analytical depth and context to Nepal’s contemporary history.


Dhakal, who served as an advisor to former President Bidya Devi Bhandari for nearly three years, hinted that more books are in the pipeline, including one based on his PhD dissertation.


Contours of Change in Nepal is expected to serve as a vital resource for scholars, policymakers, and readers interested in Nepal’s political landscape.
