Consensus by tonight: Dr Bhattarai

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Chairman of Constitutional-Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC) and UCPN (Maoist) leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that the leaders will try their best to seek consensus on disputed issues of new constitution by tonight, i.e. Friday night.

Emerging from the CPDCC meeting which was called off after observing for few minutes today, Bhattarai said that the top leaders including Prime Minister Sushil Koirala will be holding broad discussions on contentious issues and reach to a consensus by tonight."We will try our best to reach to a consensus today. We have also requested the prime minister to attend the meeting," he said.

He also said that he felt very ashamed that the committee failed to strike a deal despite repeated efforts.

The meeting which was scheduled for 1 pm and rescheduled to 4 pm today was finally called off.

The next meeting has been rescheduled for Saturday, 1 pm.
