KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) commissioner Keshav Baral has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court against the commission itself as well as Constitutional Council and secretary at the CIAA. Baral has moved the apex court in a dispute related to his tenure. The Constitutional Council had appointed Baral as commissioner on January 21, 2010 but he was sworn in more than three years later on May 8, 2013 after the appointment of Chief Secretary Lokman Singh Karki. Baral has argued that his tenure should be counted as six years from the date of his swearing-in. In the writ petition, Baral's representative has claimed that the secretary at the CIAA has not given him any information about his tenure but the President's Office has informed him that his tenure would end by January 21 upon his request to clarify the issue.
