Kathmandu, May 24: Western winds, local weather patterns, and a low-pressure system near eastern Nepal continue to influence the country’s weather, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said. Their combined effect already triggered rainfall on Saturday.
The department said generally cloudy conditions will prevail in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Madhes Province and the remaining provinces will see partly cloudy skies in hilly and mountainous areas, while most parts of the Terai are expected to remain mainly clear.

There is a chance of light to moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in some hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Similar weather activity is likely in a few places in the Terai regions of Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, as well as in the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Meanwhile, hot day conditions are expected in the hilly areas of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces, while heatwave conditions may affect parts of the Terai in those regions.
The department also warned of possible windstorms in a few locations in the Terai areas of Madhes and Koshi provinces.
