The raid was conducted in response to a complaint filed at CIAA concerning financial irregularities in the purchase of news print for Gorkhapatra and The Rising Nepal, said CIAA Spokesperson Iswori Poudel.[break]
A complaint lodged at the CIAA states that the corporation purchased low quality news print by paying unusually high amount.
The CIAA found a bundle of news print damaged by termite during the raid.
“We have seized important document and will carry out a detailed investigation from Friday,” Poudel added.
Another knowledgeable source said that CIAA team had inquired corporation officials about the damaged news print.
“We were told that the damaged news print was never kept in a damp place. Preliminary investigation shows the news print could have been purchased in a damaged state,” the source informed Republica.
