MALANGWA, Nov 20: A female Chhath devotee died in a car-hit in Harion Municipality-9, Nocha, Sarlahi district, this morning.


According to District Police Office Inspector Sabin Karki, 52-year-old Laxmi Pokharel, a local, was killed when a vehicle hit the woman at Nocha in Harion along the East-West Highway. Pokharel, who was returning home after performing Chhath Puja at Chhath Ghat in Nocha, was hit by the vehicle (Madhesh Pradesh-03-001 J 0342).

Police Inspector Anilraj Giri said that traffic police constable Subodh Kumar Yadav, who was on duty for road safety, was injured when the driver ran away after hitting the woman. Constable Yadav, whose left leg was fractured, has been taken to Lalgarh Hospital for treatment. A motorcycle number (Bagmati Pradesh-02-038 P 0311) parked on the side of the road was also hit and damaged. The driver has been detained by the local police office.
