GALLE, Sri Lanka, Oct 15: Middle order batsman Dinesh Chandimal followed opener Dimuth Karunaratne with a big century Thursday as Sri Lanka took firm control of the first test against West Indies, reaching 448-5 at tea on day two.

West Indies was sloppy on the field as they dropped two chances off Chandimal when he was on 11 and 82 and he made them pay by scoring 151 runs in 298 balls with 16 fours and two sixes. Karunaratne made 186 earlier.

Angelo Mathews was also dropped when he was on 12 and the Sri Lanka captain was two runs short of his 23rd half-century at tea.

Jerome Taylor took two wickets in two overs, but that wasn't good enough to put the brakes on the Sri Lankans.
