KATHMANDU, Nov 10: The Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS), with financial support from the Chinese Red Cross Society, has established a central warehouse in Bhaktapur to strengthen the country’s disaster preparedness and response capacity.
Constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 120 million, the warehouse will store essential non-food relief materials, including ‘dignity kits’ for women and children, to be deployed during emergencies.
The facility was jointly inaugurated on Sunday by Dharma Datt Bidari, acting executive director of the NRCS, and Bian Xiao, vice president of the Chinese Red Cross Society. Given Nepal’s challenging geography and high vulnerability to earthquakes and other natural disasters, the supplies stored in the new facility are expected to play a vital role in future relief operations.
