KATHMANDU, May 15: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that he is in favour of appointing a capable person to the vacant post of Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) based on merit rather than personal connection.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Former Planners Forum, Nepal today, PM Oli stated, "I don't have anyone (close to me) to bring to the Rastra Bank as Governor. We should bring capable people based on meritocracy. If there are people who can work, it will be fine for the country. I don't want anyone called 'my person'. I am the Prime Minister, but I am not alone in the government. Therefore, I prioritize meritocracy as much as possible."
