CAN announces preliminary squad for ACC U-19 woman cricket

KATHMANDU, Jan 1: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Sunday announced 18-member preliminary squad for closed-camp training to prepare for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Women´s Cricket Tournament.



The players were selected by a committee headed by Bijaya Kumar Sharma based on their performance during the National U-19 Woman Cricket Tournament held in Kathmandu. [break]



Five players from the winning team Region No 7 (Janakpur) made to the squad including Anuradha Chaudhary, Sarswoti Chaudhary, Mamta Chaudhary, Santoshi Chaudhary and captain Kabita Gautam.



Best batswoman of the tournament Pratikshya Bashyal, player of the tournament Indu Berma and Aaksha Gurung are from the runner-up Region No 4 (Bhairahawa).



Three players each from Region No 6 (Baitadi) and Region No 3 (Kathmandu) have also been selected for the camp. Baitadi captain Sonu Khadka, Dropati Kunar, Puja Bhatta, Kathmandu captain Shradda Aryal, best bowler of the tournament Shilu Rijal and Sangeeta Gauchan are the selected players.



Nepalgunj´s Saraswoti GM and Samana Pun, Biratnagar´s Rubina Chhetri and Birgunj´s wicketkeeper Manisha Chaulagain have also made it to the team.



The squad will train for the ACC event to be held in Kuwait from February 1 to 10.
