Speaking at a press conference organized by Nepal Press Union in Janakpur, Thapa also argued that there is no point in reviving the CA as it has already failed to write the new constitution. [break]
The new CA to be elected should devote its time exclusively for writing the new constitution and not get involved in forming and dissolving governments. Thapa also said the election to the CA, parliament and the local bodies can be held simultaneously.
“This will be cheaper and effective,” he added, saying that parliament could function for five years even after the CA gets dissolved in two years after promulgating the new constitution.
He also argued that it is high time parties started discussing ways to conduct free and fair election saying election is the only way out for the country to get out of the current deadlock.
