BUSINESS BRIEFS: Prabhu signs pact with Commerz and Trust Bank

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Prabhu Money Transfer and Commerz and Trust Bank have signed an agreement, under which money remitted into the country via Prabhu can be collected from 11 branch offices of Commerz and Trust Bank. The agreement was signed by Rameshwor Sapkota, deputy general manager of Prabhu, and Bibhushan Shrestha, chief operating officer of the bank, says a statement issued by Prabhu Money Transfer.



Prabhu Money has previously signed similar agreements with Nepal Bank Limited, Rastriya Banijya Bank, Agricultural Development Bank and Kumari Bank.[break]Prabhu Money, for the last 11 years, has been remitting funds from Malaysia, the US, Gulf nations and other countries where Nepalis are employed.



H&B opens branch in Bhairahawa


KATHMANDU: H&B Development Bank has opened its 29th branch office in Bhairahawa of Rupandehi district. The branch was jointly inaugurated by Shravan Kumar Agarwal, chairman of the bank, and Bishnu Prasad Sharma, president of Siddharthanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Sunday, says a bank statement. The bank has previously opened six branch offices in Kathmandu valley and 22 outside the valley.



It also has an extension counter in Garuda Bazar of Rautahat. The bank is planning to open one each branch office inside and outside Kathmandu valley. The bank, with a paid-up capital of Rs 897.23 million, collected Rs 7.20 billion in deposits and extended Rs 5.71 billion in loans in the last fiscal year.



Yamaha MotoGP screening

KATHMANDU: MAW Enterprises -- the sole authorized distributor of Yamaha bikes in Nepal -- conducted the screening of MotoGP Racing Championship Grand Prix in bigger screen on Sunday. In the event organized at Thamel-based Factory Restaurant and Bar, Yamaha had specially invited R15 customers and other interested people, a press statement said on Monday. "The main objectives of the program were to entertain people who really love motorcycle racing and to promote R15 V2 motorcycle," the statement added. Besides the screening, the company also demonstrated Yamaha´s R6 and R15 V2 models.



Tinau Bank opens branch in Dudhrakshya


KATHMANDU: Tinau Development Bank has opened its eighth branch office in Dudhrakshya village development committee of Rupandehi district. The new branch office collected deposit of Rs 15 million from over 800 depositors on the day of its inauguration, while Rs 5 million credit was extended on the same day from the unit, says a bank statement. The bank, established around six years ago, has a paid-up capital of Rs 100 million. The bank, which has permission to operate in Rupandehi, Nawalparasi and Chitwan districts, has collected Rs 1.32 billion in deposit and extended Rs 1 billion in loans.


Beefeater Gin awarded

KATHMANDU: Beefeater Gin, a premium gin brand has won prestigious Gin Trophy of this year´s International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC), a press statement of the company said. "Judges at IWSC awarded Beefeater Gin the top honors of a trophy and a Gold Outstanding medal, describing it as an absolute classic, marvelously mellow, yet fresh and alive," the statement added. The brand is enjoyed in more than 100 countries.



KUSOM to organize job fair

KATHMANDU: With the objective to bring all the leading companies and aspiring business managers together, students of Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) are organizing "Job Fair" on Thursday, a statement said. According to the statement, 19 reputed companies, including Ncell, Nabil Bank, Jyoti Group and Unilever Nepal, are participating in the event. "The event is targeted at MBA graduates and the organizers are planning to extend the reach to students of other discipline as well in near future," the statement said, adding: "The event will give the students viable opportunity and employers can recruit the potential talents saving expenses and time."



Virgin Atlantic unveils special fare to UK, US

KATHMANDU: UK-based Virgin Atlantic has offered a special fare on Kathmandu-London-Kathmandu sector. The airline is offering one way fare at Rs 30,000 excluding applicable taxes. As the airline is not operating flights to Kathmandu, passengers will have to fly to Delhi in Jet Airways or Air India or to Doha via Qatar Airways. Virgin Atlantic has also unveiled special fare to different US cities. It is offering return fare to New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles at Rs 49,290, Rs 59,572 and Rs 58,340 respectively. The fares are exclusive of applicable taxes. The special fare has been targeted to outbound tourists at Nepali students," Bhola Bikram Thapa, chief of Marco Polo Travels -- the GSA of Virgin Atlantic in Nepal.


Qatar offers special fare for Hajj pilgrims

KATHMANDU: Qatar Airways has launched special fare for passengers traveling to Saudi Arabia for Hajj pilgrimage. The airline is offering return fare on Kathmandu-Doha-Jeddah sector at Rs 83,000 including all taxes and surcharges. The offer is valid to travel from Kathmandu between October 7-13 and to return between November 17-27, 2012, according to the statement. Qatar Airways had flown 858 pilgrims last year. According to the statement, the tickets should be purchased before August 31.
