"We are preparing to give the money back to our customers who participated in the scheme," Corporate Communication Manager of Spice Nepal Sanju Koirala said.
The permitted tariff for Spice Nepal is set at Rs 1.99 per minute (not including taxes), whereas the company had set a charge of Rs 2.47 (inclusive of tax) for 10 seconds for the campaign.
"We are currently in discussion with NTA officials and if the outcome is positive, we plan to resume the service," Koirala told myrepublica.com.
Sources said that more than 500,000 subscribers had participated in the campaign during the five days it was conducted. Ncell is currently checking its database to find out the amount spent by its customers in order to refund their money.
Koirala further informed that the money will be returned within a few days and those who are to be refunded will be notified through SMS.
National Trading cuts sugar prices
KATHAMNDU, Sept 6: The state-owned National Trading Limited (NTL) has finally announced a reduction in the price of sugar. The state´s trading arm had been maintaining a higher rate for sugar even when the retail rates had fallen in the open market.
NTL announced that it had reduced the retail price of the sugar to Rs 65 per kg in its latest price revision. The previous rate of Rs 80 per kg had been fixed a year ago when the market was reeling under acute shortage of sugar.
“We have deducted the price to balance our price prevailing market price,” Gopal Ghimire, valley chief of National Trading said. The wholesale price for sugar has now been fixed at 64 per kg. Salt Trading Limited, another retailer of sugar, has already revised its price.
Officials at NTL said they have 9,000 kilograms of sugar in stock at present. National Trading also said the price for Indian sugar will also be fixed on par with the market prices.
BoK´s Ghhardailo Saptaha
KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Bank of Kathmandu (BoK) has commenced a weeklong campaign -- BoK Ghardailo Saptaha -- to encourage people to join banking transactions.
In the first phase of the campaign, the bank is launching various programs in Panauti and nearby areas such as Khopasi, Sunthan, Malpi, Dhingakharka and Kushadevi.
In a statement issued Monday, BoK said it will hold through door-to-door campaigns and organize programs in places like educational institutions, co-operatives and social organizations. The bank said it would inform the people about the benefits of banking.
The campaign would also make people aware about registering births, as a large number of people are still unaware about it, the bank said in the statement, adding that it would also help in the birth registration process.
New Italian Wall Putty introduced
KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Apurba International Pvt Ltd, the sole distributor of Italian Wall Putty in Nepal, has launched new wall putty in the market.
Issuing a statement Monday, the company said the newly introduced wall putty is an ISO 9001:2000 certified product and claims that it is one of the whitest wall putty available in the market. The company has further stated that the wall putty is widely popular in India.
The company is shortly introducing Italian color wall putty in the market as well, the statement reads.
CG LCD now in market
KATHMANDU, Sept 6: CG Electronics, a part of the Chaudhary Group, has introduced a new range products including CG LCD TV in the market.
Issuing a press release, the company said the products have been launched as demand for electronics products is significantly increasing in the Nepali market.
