Bukhel, Manikhel folks elated to receive corrugated sheets from Nepali in Austria

KATHMANDU, May 25: With the financial assistance from Nepalis residing in Austria, corrugated zinc sheets were provided to the people of earthquake-ravaged Bimire and Chiuridanda of Bukhel VDC, the remote village in Lalitpur.Each affected households received a half bundle of zinc sheets, said a local Amrit Poudel who is a medical doctor by profession and coordinating the assistance supply. The Bukhel folks who became homeless by the earthquake have been elated with getting roofs for making shelters on the onset of monsoon.

A total of 12 people here had lost their lives to the devastating earthquake. Likewise, the survivors of Manikhel also got corrugated zinc plates.

The assistance from kind-hearted Nepalis residing abroad has brought cheers among the survivors at Bukhel and Manikhel where the government representatives are yet to reach with relief goods though Tuesday marks the completion of one month since the earthquake rattled the country.

A dozen of Nepalis residing at Graz in southeastern Austria raised funds for purchasing zinc sheets and the fund raising is going on for helping earthquake survivors here, Poudel said. RSS
