MUGU, April 4: British ambassador to Nepal Richard Morris has visited several villages in Mugu district to monitor development projects which are being implemented with financial support from the UK's Department for International Development (DfID).

Mugu is both the most remote and the least developed district. The British envoy is accompanied by a team. The team, which reached the district headquarters, Gamgadhi, on Sunday, interacted with the chiefs of district-based government offices.

On Monday, the team members have also visited the physical infrastructure and services delivered at the district hospital and district health offices.

Richard told the district-level stakeholders that British government has sent them for carrying out development work in Nepal. According to him, the friendship between Nepal and Britain is two centuries old.

DFID is currently partnering with the Ministry of Health to improve the health sector and also helping road construction works. Such activities will continue for five years more, the ambassador informed.

Implementation of DFID-funded Gamgahi-Dhain Dhulachaur road construction under the Rural Access Program, Family Planning Program, and Nepal Climate Change Support Program is underway in the district.
