JANAKPURDHAM, Dec 28: The British Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, celebrated his 22nd wedding anniversary at Janaki Temple with his wife, Julia Fenn. Following Maithili traditions, they marked the occasion by exchanging garlands and applying *sindoor* (traditional vermilion powder).
After the priests at Janaki Temple chanted mantras, Fenn donned a Maur (a traditional head covering) and exchanged garlands with his wife. He also placed a ring on her finger during the ceremony.
Ram Roshan Das, the Deputy Chief Priest of Janaki Temple, officiated the rituals. Later, Ram Chandra Mandal, the Speaker of Madhesh Province, Manoj Kumar Sah, the Mayor of Janakpur, and other dignitaries congratulated the couple on the special occasion.

Ambassador Fenn praised the traditions, language, attire, and culture of Mithila, describing them as some of the finest in the world. He also expressed a keen interest in promoting the region as a wedding destination.
"During my visit to various places in Madhesh last year, I came to appreciate the cultural heritage of Mithila. The unparalleled beauty of this region inspired me to celebrate this anniversary here," Ambassador Fenn remarked.
He pledged to make every effort to develop Janakpur as a wedding destination and expressed his commitment to supporting various development projects through personal initiatives and collaboration with the British Embassy and the Government of Nepal.
The ambassador’s contributions are expected to provide renewed momentum to efforts to establish Janakpurdham as a prominent religious, cultural, and tourist destination. The Government of Nepal has already adopted a policy to promote Janakpurdham as a wedding destination.
