The diversion at Mapti was eroded by the flooded river, resulting in a complete halt in vehicular movement, according to the District Police Office, Sinduli. The washed-away diversion has now been repaired and the river has been diverted.

With efforts from the police team and local residents, the road was reopened for one-way traffic starting early Tuesday morning.

After a flood in late September last year swept away the highway, a temporary diversion had been constructed at that location. Police have rescued 17 stranded passengers from the highway. Vehicles that were previously halted are now gradually being brought back into operation.

Meanwhile, the search for a woman missing in the flood since Monday afternoon is continuous.  Renuka Giri, 33, from Subbagaon of Panauti Municipality-5, had gone missing at 6:00pm Monday. She was swept away by the flooded Dhalmale rivulet while returning home from a festival.
