Bodies of US helicopter crash victims brought to Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, May 17: All eight bodies including those of two Nepali Army men and six of US Army men have been brought to the capital city from Ghorthali in Sindhuplachowk district, the crash site of the US Marine Corps chopper. Works to identify the bodies were started in the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in the capital city.

The Nepal Army said that the bodies of Nepal Army personnel would be kept in Birendra Military Hospital at Chhauni while the bodies of the US marines would be kept in the US Recreation Centre at Lainchaur after a postmortem.The body of Nepal Army Captain Tapendra Rawal of Narayan Municipality in Dailekh district and Warrant Officer-2 Basanta Titara of Shikhar VDC in Darchula district would be sent to their hometowns by the Nepal Army on Monday.

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Rana has condoled the demise of the personnel of Nepal Army and the US Army during the time of discharging their duty and expressed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members.

Furthermore, the Nepal Army Public Relations Directorate has said that a five-member probe panel has been formed to investigate the US Marine Corps chopper crash under the leadership of Nepal Army Brigadier General Pilot Sudheer Shrestha. RSS
