BJP Foreign Affairs Chief meets Maoist Chair Dahal during Nepal visit

His visit has drawn attention, particularly at a time when India has yet to extend an official invitation to CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli for a formal visit to India.

KATHMANDU, May 1: Vijay Chauthaiwale, head of the Foreign Affairs Department of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), met with CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at his residence in Khumaltar, Lalitpur.



The two reportedly discussed Nepal-India bilateral relations, mutual interests, and party-to-party ties between the BJP and the Maoist Centre.

Chauthaiwale arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday for a three-day visit to Nepal. During his stay, he has already held talks with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, among other leaders.


His visit has drawn attention, particularly at a time when India has yet to extend an official invitation to CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli for a formal visit to India.
