BIZ BRIEFS: NOC formally withdraws LPG dual pricing

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has formally withdrawn its decision to introduce dual pricing on liquified petroleum gas (LPG). Issuing a statement, NOC said the decision has been withdrawn as it needs to do more homework on the issue.



"The meeting of the board of directors has withdrawn the decision to increase LPG price and fix different price rates for blue and red cylinders after holding series of meetings with representatives of 11 student unions," the statement said. NOC had increased the price of LPG and introduce different prices for household and industrial use on February 12. However, the decision was withdrawn the following day due to protest by different student unions.



Mega Bank announced partner bank of NCDA

KATHMANDU:
Mega Bank has been designated the partner bank for the Nepal Chemist and Druggist Association (NCDA). A press statement issued on Sunday said CEO of Mega Bank Anil Keshary Shah and Chairman of NCDA (Bagmati Zone) Rameshwor Shrestha jointly signed the agreement to this effect. "Through this understanding, Mega Bank will offer special facilities in deposits as well as micro, SME and retail loans to all the members of NCDA initially for the members within the Bagmati zone and in due course to the members throughout the country in various other zones," said the statement. According to the statement, the agreement will directly benefit around 1,200 medical entrepreneurs, including various importers, wholesalers, and retailers of Bagmati Zone. The bank operates with a network of 28 branches and has customer base of 90,000.



Sunrise relaunches fixed deposit scheme

KATHMANDU: Sunrise Bank has relaunched its fixed deposit scheme called “Sunrise Bishesh Muddati”. Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the bank said under the scheme customers would get 7.5 percent on a minimum deposit of Rs 50,000 for one year. The bank has also announced 50 percent discount on locker and key deposit till mid-April. The bank operates with a network of 49 branches and 57 ATMs. It has more than 213,000 customers.
