Birgunj-Pathlaiya road to be upgraded to six lanes

BIRGUNJ, Feb 29: The Birgunj-Pathlaiya road section, which is popularly known as the gateway to Nepal, is to be upgraded to six lanes, five times wider than the current width of the road.

The Department of Road (DoR) has already started working out on its design after carrying out a preliminary survey.


"The upgradation task of the Birgunj-Pathlaiya road is moving ahead at a great speed and will be finished by the end of this fiscal year," said DoR engineer and project head Rabindra Lal Das.

The six-lane road connecting Pathlaiya to Parwanipur in Birgjun, will cost around Rs 500 million.

The Birgunj-Pathlaiya road had been constructed 57 years ago.
