Bhoto of Rato Machchhindranath displayed

LALITPUR, Oct 12: The displaying of the bhoto or the jewel-studded vest of the Rato Machchhindranath deity was held in presence of high-ranking dignitaries at Jawalakhel today.

In the presence of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Vice-president Parmananda Jha and Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli, Chief of the Guthi Sansthan, Lalitpur Rudranath Adhikari displayed the holy vest from all four corners of the chariot carrying the idol of Lord Machchindranath.After the initial obstruction due to the April 25 earthquake, the chariot procession of Machchhindranath had resumed on September 22. The chariot had arrived at Jawalakhel on October 9 after going through and stopping at various thoroughfares of Lalitpur.

A large crowd of people had gathered in and around Jawalakhel today to grace the annual event.

Machchhindranath is revered as a god of good harvest and prosperity. Paying homage to Lord Machchhindranath is believed to bring good luck and fulfill one's wishes.

The chariot procession will finally come to an end after four days upon reaching the temple of Machchhindranath at Bungmati, where the statue would be finally installed. RSS
