KATHMANDU, Jan 24: After over three-month long preparation, former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Sunday announced a 35-member interim central council of his to-be-formed new party, which is so far described as a new force.

Organizing a press meet in the capital, Bhattarai introduced new faces of the new organization. He said the announcement of the new party with a full-fledeged executive committee will be made within next few months.

Some of the known faces of the council include former finance secretary Rameshwar Khanal, political analyst Mumaram Khanal, leader of Nepaa Rastriya Party Keshavman Shakya, former Assistant Inspector General of Police Ganesh Rai, cine actors Karishma Manandhar, Ashok Sharma and Saroj Khanal among others.

Businessman Binod Chaudhary, who was also present at the function, expressed his good wishes and support for Bhattarai's commitment to launch a political party that would give priority to development.

Also speaking, ex-AIG Rai remarked that he decided to join Bhattarai's political movement as he was impressed by the former PM's commitment and working style during his drive for road expansion in Kathmandu and drunk-driving among other initiatives during his tenure as head of the government.

Bhattarai had last week announced that his new party will be left-democratic but not communist and not Maoist as well.
