KATHMANDU, Aug 1: On August 5 and 6, 2012, The American Embassy, in collaboration with Quixote’s Cove and Kathmandu University, School of Arts, Centre of Art and Design, is holding a series of lectures and workshops with American Mural Artist James Burns.



Under the aegis of the “Rainbow City: A Mural Art Project,” Burns is visiting Nepal for a 10-day trip as part of the American Embassy Cultural Envoy Program.[break]



“The whole idea of the workshop is to bring together Nepali artists and the artists from America together and work jointly and learn things,” informed Pranab Singh of Quixote’s Cove, adding, “There will be around 25 to 30 Nepali artists participating in the workshop where they will learn to use locally available resources and we hope that they will use it even after the workshop is over.”







During the lecture series, Burns will also be talking about mural making in the United States along with various aspects of the process. The lectures are being held at Martin Chautari in Thapathali from 11am and at Thames College in Battis Putali on August 5 and at Srijana College of Fine Arts in Lazimpat at 11am on August 6.



Interested participants in the workshop need to fill out a form online. Selected participants are expected to pay a nominal fee of Rs 300 as participation fee and commit to attending daily workshops from August 7 to 14, 2012. Application forms can be availed at www.qcbookshop.com.
