Bad weather hits PM Koirala, Oli's Taplejung visit

KATHMANDU, June 12: Prime Minister Sushil Koiral and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli who were scheduled to leave for Taplejung to observe the loss of lives and properties by the rain-induced landslides have cancelled their visit due to bad weather.

According to Oli's aide Ramesh Acharya, PM Koirala and UML Chairman Oli, who were scheduled to fly to Taplejung by helicopter, have cancelled their plan due to the incessant rain. They will head toward the district once the weather becomes clear, he said.


A schedule had it that PM Sushil Koirala, UML Chief Oli and Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana would fly to Taplejung this moring to take stock of the loss of lives and properties by the landslide.

Similarly, President Ram Baran Yadav is also heading to Ramechhap to observe the condition of quake victims. He will take stock of relief distribution and rehabilitation programs at the district headquarters Manthali today.

It is learnt that President Yadav will also visit the remotest village Duragaun. It is the worst hit village by the earthquake. Yadav was also scheduled to leave for Okhaldhunga but it is uncertain as the weather is not clear.
