Australian Embassy provides financial assistance to 9 projects

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: The Embassy of Australia provided financial assistance worth Rs 13.938 million to nine non-government organizations in Nepal under the embassy’s Direct Aid Program 2013-14.



The Embassy, through its Direct Aid Program, is funding projects in health and sanitation, education, and media development in Nepal. Australia’s Ambassador to Nepal, Glenn White, presented cheques of assistance to representatives of the organizations amidst a program at the Embassy on Friday.[break]



Those receiving the Australian assistance are Nepal Australia Cervical Cancer Foundation, Banepa, Siddhi Memorial Hospital, Bhaktapur, Tamakoshi Cooperative Hospital, Manthali, Nepal Labour Journalists’ Association, Kathmandu, Green Pasture Hospital, Pokhara, Gokuleshwor Multiple Campus, Darchula, Maiti Nepal, Kathmandu, National Human Right Protection Forum for the Disabled, Kathmandu, Reiyukai Eiko Masunga Eye Hospital, Banepa.



On the occasion, Ambassador White said the Australian Government provides the money to assist communities and other worth projects which have a clear humanitarian or development theme. It may be noted that the nine projects this year were selected from a list of over 95 proposals received by the embassy from NGOs and charity groups.
