JANAKPUR, Aug 4: Jaya Krishna Goit-led Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha (ATMM) shut down four Tarai districts on Wednesday to protest the killing of its cadre a month ago.

The shutdown affected Dhanusha, Siraha, Mahottari and Sarlahi.

ATMM cadre Pradip Yadav, 30, of Harine village, Dhanusha, was ´in-charge´ of the four districts. He was killed in an encounter with security forces on July 3.

Meanwhile, banda enforced by Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Jwala Singh group) affected normal life in Bara, Parsa and Rautahat on Wednesday.

The group called the shutdown demanding release of its Parsa district in-charge Bhuj Patel “Akash Singh,” who was arrested two weeks ago along with weapons by police.

Though a few vehicles plied on long routes, traffic in short routes came to a complete halt due to the strike. However, educational institutions and industries are operating as usual.
