The student wing of the UCPN (Maoist) has nominated Manushi Yami Bhattarai, the daughter of former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai to contest for the post of FSU president at the central campus of TU. She currently holds the post of general secretary at the central campus. [break]
Organizing a press conference on Sunday, the ANNISU-R president Himal Sharma informed that the student leader Surendra Basnet has been nominated to run for president at Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus, Dipesh Pun at Amrit Science Campus and Dhruba Bikram Oli at Mahendra Ratna Campus in Tahachal.
Similarly, other candidates include Tekendra Joshi at Trichandra College, Santosh Acharya at Balmiki Campus, Pawan Karki at Minbhawan Campus and Anita Sapkota at Padmakanya Campus.
Rajeshwori Subedi has been nominated to run for president at Shankardev campus, Indra Bhusal at Pashupati Campus, Sanothimi Campus and Patan Campus, Ganesh Budhathoki and Prem Shrestha to contest for presidential post at Public Youth Campus. The organization has nominated Chakra Bhatta for Thapathali campus.
The revolutionary students´ union said it will announce the candidates for the remaining campuses on May 23. Addressing the program, Sharma expressed that the earlier announced alliance between 11 students unions would be implemented from the part. "ANNISU-R is committed to coordinate with all the unions," he added.
He also urged CPN-Maoist to work together for electoral alliance with CPN-Maoist aligned ANNISU-R as their agendas are common.
Meanwhile, various student unions such as ANNISU-R, CPN-UML aligned All Nepal National Free Student Union and Nepali Congress aligned Nepal Students Union took campus chief and administrative officers of various Valley-based TU constituent colleges hostage till late night Friday to enroll voter students spending more than Rs 12 million in admission fees. But, the students unions have spent millions of rupees to increase their voters in most of the TU constituent colleges. However, all those union leaders have been refuting the charge saying that they are ready for all sorts of investigation of the issue.
