Speaking at a program in the capital this afternoon, Gajurel, who is close to Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya, the faction led by whom has decided to stay out of the government, said the protest drive being launched by the faction is not for revocation of the decision but for countering the move that he said has come against the party line. “We very well understand that the keys, which have already been submitted, will not be returned. We have opposed the decision only to ensure that such move against the party line will not take place in the future,” Gajurel said.
Gajurel, who was reportedly to be given the post of deputy prime minister and foreign minister in the government, further said the Baidya camp will join the government provided that the establishment faction concedes that its decision to handover the keys was wrong.
He also alleged that a section of leaders in the party are hell-bent on splitting the party, adding that, “We, however, are not in favor of disintegrating the party, even though we have the required 40 per cent of lawmakers and central committee members for that.”
On integration of Maoist combatants, he said the former Maoist fighters should be allowed to have their own say on if they are fit to be considered for integration and added that there should bulk integration and that the integrated force should have a combatant role.
