Actors win friendly football match against politicians

KATHMANDU, June 7: In a friendly football match between politicians and actors on Saturday, the actors won the match by a score of 3-0. The match, which took place at the headquarters of the Armed Police Force in Halchowk, was organized to raise funds for earthquake victims.

Actors Madan Krishna Shrestha, Hari Bansha Acharya, Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla, Shiv Shrestha, Dhiren Shakya, Karishma Manandhar, Keki Adhikari, Deepa Shree Niroula and Priyanka Karki, among others participated in the game sporting red jerseys.Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, who was the captain for his team, was on the field for 25 minutes, giving his best to the game. While the team of actors was dominating the game from the start, it took them 39 minutes to score the first goal by actor Man Raj Shrestha. In the second half of the game, Roshan Shrestha struck the second goal and Nabin KC managed to give one more.

Organized by Naya Patrika daily, the game was inaugurated by President Ram Baran Yadav. Senior politicians like PM Sushil Koirala, former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Baburam Bhattarai, Madhav Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal, and CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Chairman of Madhesi People's Rights Forum-Democratic (MJF-D) Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar led the first half of the game. Dr Minendra Rijal, Gagan Thapa, Hishila Yami and Krishna Prasad Sitoula were also part of the team.

Actor Priyanka Karki stated that the match turned out to be a fun experience. Taking to social media, she wrote that she felt proud to be part of the game as it was about fundraising for earthquake victims and the rebuilding process.
