KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Comedian Jitu Nepal, popularly known as 'Mundre', has distributed quilts worth Rs 100,000 to 87 families affected by the April 25 earthquake in VDC 5 and 7 of his home village Phulping Danda in Sindhupalchowk. Among the recipients, 52 families are from the Dalit community.

According to Nepal, Bishnu Hari Subedi and Babu KC from Chicago, USA, have contributed the sum of Rs 60 thousand for the quilts distribution."As the mercury level has been dropping significantly in the past few weeks, the poor and elderly survivors of the earthquake braving the cold were constantly on my mind. So my main focus was to distribute the quilts among these people," the actor said.

Earlier, Nepal had donated a bundle of corrugated sheets and a sack of rice each to 135 families affected by the earthquake. Similarly, he had also provided five computers and printers to Jalpa Devi Higher Secondary School, his alma mater in Sindhupalchowk District.

The villagers, who love Jitu Nepal for his work on television, appreciated his efforts on spreading happiness off screen as well.
