Accordingly, the Government has released the national standards on quality of sound, 2069 BS through a notice published in the gazette on October 29.
According to information shared at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment here on Wednesday, the Government has released set standards on the dust particles coming out of cement and crusher industries, on the smoke coming out of diesel generators and from boiler industries.
Sound pollution in underdeveloped countries including Nepal is found to be on the rise due to absence of planned urban development and transport management, says a statement distributed on the occasion.
Likewise, playing of musical sound system, loud speaker, generator, motor pump, grill industries running in a haphazard manner are also contributing to sound pollution in the region.
Sound pollution is found to be one of the contributing factors to health problems including high blood pressure, rise in tension, loss of hearing power and insomnia.
The government has set limits on sound in five areas including industrial sector, business sector, rural habitation area, urban settlement area and peaceful area.
