According to a press statement issued by the forum on Tuesday, the alliance has been providing relief support to the most-affected families in the rural areas with shelter, WASH, food and non-food items, hygiene kits, temporary learning centres and educational materials in Gorkha, Lamjung, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Dhading, Tanahu, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts.While providing relief materials, the alliance focuses on people with disabilities, Dalits, senior citizens and the most vulnerable people in these districts. "The combined resources, expertise, experience and commitment of the alliance members have facilitated and smoothened relief distribution and thanks to their international presence, the import of relief goods from different countries has been easier," said the statement.
The Forum comprises Dan Church Aid; The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission; The Amity Foundation; FinnChurch Aid; ICCO Cooperation; Lutheran World Federation(LWF) Nepal; Lutheran World Relief and Christian Aid. The forum said its member organizations have been supporting the quake victims in coordination with the local government agencies after conducting need assessments.
The statement said Dan Church Aid has provided basic food to 9,406 families, tarpaulins to 5,688,hygiene kits to 259 and psychosocial counselling to 542 families in Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Dhading districts.The Lutheran World Relief has provided basic food and tarpaulins to 3,213 households in Gorkha, Lamjung and Tanahu districts.
Likewise, the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission provided basic food and tarpaulins to families and psychosocial counselling to 4,850 people in Dhading and Gorkha. While the FinnChurch Aid has established one child-friendly space in Bhaktapur, Christian Aid has provided relief materials to 5,700 families in Gorkha, Dhading and Sindhupalchok districts. Out of them, it has provided tarpaulins to 1,600, basic food to 1,600 and hygiene kits to 2,500 families.
Similarly, the LWF Nepal, the Emergency Operation Centre of the Alliance, has distributed relief materials to 10,803 worst-hit families in Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. It distributed tarpaulins, blankets, mattress, ready-to-eat and basic food, non-food items like torch, hygiene kits, and water pots among others.
