Absence of chiefs at 13 govt offices upsets service seekers

KHOTANG, Jan 27: Service seekers visiting government offices based in the district headquarters have been facing hassles in absence of the chiefs at those offices. According to some service seekers, top officials have left the district to take part in seminar and training programs.

The chiefs of 13 different offices--district development office, district education office, district health office, electricity authority, technical office, telecom, election, irrigation, post office, drinking water and sanitation sub-division, ayurveda, cottage and small industries development offices and Diktel municipality--are away citing various reasons.Not just the office chiefs but second and third ranked employees, too, are absent from the offices based in the district headquarters.

Sources claimed that some of the office chiefs who are from Madhesi origin have left the district to take part in the ongoing protests in Madhes. Other top ranking district officials have left to attend different events in Gaighat, Biratnagar, Kathmandu and other places.
