68 inmates yet to return in Tanahun even after three months

According to police, of the 327 inmates held at the prison, 259 have returned, while the remaining individuals are still absconding.

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: As many as sixty-eight inmates who escaped from Tanahun Prison during the Gen-Z movement on September 9 have yet to return.



According to police, of the 327 inmates held at the prison, 259 have returned, while the remaining individuals are still absconding. As three months have passed since the Gen Z unrest, search operations have been intensified to locate those who remain out of contact.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrawan Kumar BK said that while some inmates have returned to the prison voluntarily, others are being tracked down and arrested.


Meanwhile, police arrested 22-year-old Suman Pariyar of Palungtar Municipality–7, Gorkha, on Thursday. Pariyar, who had escaped from prison during the Gen-Z movement, was serving a sentence in a burglary case.


A police team deployed from Tanahun arrested him and sent him back to prison for necessary legal action, DSP BK added.
