Sixty three fake examinees at Pato Secondary School center and four others at Shisawa Belahi Secondary School center exited the exam halls after the police warned them of arrest. They, however, were not arrested as they obeyed the ruling, said officials. A total of 48 fake examinees had voluntarily surrendered to the police at Patthargada center on Monday. [break]
At Patthargada center, the police had notified such examinees through bull-horn to leave the exam hall. The police had also warned of arrest in case of defiance, which led to their departure en masse. SP Sharad Oli, however, claimed that the fake examinees ran away knowing the arrival of the police. “We did not let them go away just like that,” he said.
A superintendent at the center said on condition of anonymity that around 35 percent of the total examinees are fake.
Ramchandra Gupta, president of Parents Association Siraha, said the presence of fake examinees in the exam halls was a “disgrace” to SLC exams. He also accused the exam co-ordination committee of foul play as it did not allow the press to cover the exams.
A total of 37 fake examinees were arrested over the weekend and two invigilators detained for allegedly helping the examinees plagiarize. Seven among the detainees have been detained in police custody while others were freed.
