KATHMANDU, Nov 25: A total of 64 political parties have registered so far for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5. According to the Election Commission (EC), eight parties were registered on Monday alone.
Until Sunday, 56 parties had registered. With Monday’s additions, the total has reached 64. The EC has set November 26 as the deadline for parties wishing to take part in the upcoming HoR elections.

According to the EC, 12 parties registered on November 17, five on November 18, eight on November 19, eight on November 20, seven on November 21, and 16 on November 23.
The parties registered on Monday include Nagarik Shakti Nepal, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Miteri Party Nepal, Pragatisheel Samajbadi Party, Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), Terai–Madhesh Loktantrik Party, Rastriya Samunnati Party, and Janadesh Party Nepal.
Although the EC has a total of 135 registered political parties, those wishing to participate in the election must reapply by Wednesday for election purposes.
