BIRGUNJ, Aug 6: Forty-three more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Birgunj, which has turned into a hotspot of this disease in recent days.
One health professional, 11 Nepal Army personnel and a banker were diagnosed with COVID-19 during lab tests carried out at the Narayani Hospital COVID-19 Lab. The newly-infected ones include one each from Bara and Rautahat district.

Of the new infections, six are females, according to Dr Madan Kumar Upadhyay, medical superintendent at the hospital. “Seven of them got their swab samples tested by a paid service,” he added.
Six of them were found infected during a mass testing going on in Birgunj in recent days while four others were diagnosed in the course of contact tracing.
A staffer of Narayani Hospital and two family members of a staffer were also found COVID-19 positive.
An employee at the Nepal Investment Bank and another 35-year-old female from Birgunj-10, Ashokbati also tested positive for this viral infection.
