267 arrested for arson, vandalism

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: The Nepal Police arrested a total of 267 people for their alleged involvement in looting, vandalism and arson in Kathmandu district during the Gen-Z protests of September 8 and 9.  



The District Police Range, Kathmandu, said that it has received 154 complaints relating to vandalism and arson.

The police shared that investigations are ongoing on 113 people, and 33 individuals were released on bail, while 43 individuals have been sent to judicial custody. 


Of the complaints, 22 cases were related to individual cases on arson, vandalism and criminal offences and 66 of arson and vandalism of government offices and property.


 Likewise, 16 other cases registered at the police are about vandalism and arson of business enterprises, the Supreme Court and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
