2 missing in Karnali jeep plunge

DAILEKH, Sept 12: Two persons have gone missing after a jeep swerved off the road and plunged into Karnali River near Pipalkot-5, Dailekh on Wednesday.



The jeep (Lu 1 Ta 2829) had only two persons aboard during the time of the mishap, informed police.



Those gone missing have been identified as jeep driver Suraj Kandel of Surkhet and Kalu Shahi of Kalikot, informed Sudharsan Thapa, deputy superintendent of police (DSP), who is also the police chief of Dailekh.



The driver´s helper Sandip Thapa luckily escaped the fatal crash as he boarded another jeep last night. The rescue operation is taking more time as the ill-fated jeep is submerged inside Karnali River, police said.
