KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 578 with 15 more death cases recorded in the past 24 hours.


The death toll accounts for 0.61 percent of the total 94,253 cases recorded so far in Nepal.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Bagmati Province witnessed the highest eight cases of fatality linked to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours followed by Lumbini Province, Province 1 and 2.


Of the 15 new death cases recorded on Wednesday, six are from Kathmandu, two from Morang and one each from Siraha, Rautahat, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi and Dang districts.


As of Wednesday afternoon, 233 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 37 others are on ventilators.


Nepal witnessed a record number of 3,439 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours including 1,684 from Kathmandu Valley alone.
