According to Cottage and Small Industry Office, Saptari, 148 industries were registered between Shrawan 2067-Ashad 2068. The production capacity of all these industries is around Rs 2.9 million, said industry officer Raghubir Sah.[break]
According to Sah, revenue worth Rs 330,000 was collected from the new industries that have an authorised capital of Rs 1.12 million.
Meanwhile, participants of a seminar organised by the cottage office said that industrial promotion and an atmosphere conducive to the business promotion and development are key to economic prosperity.
Speaking at the programme, Sunsari CDO Gokarna Mani Dwadi said security situation will be improved to encourage industrialists and businessmen to invest more.
Hailing the roles of the private sector being the main partner of the government, the CDO said peaceful industrial environment was essential for the overall economic development.
An officer of the cottage office, Raghubir Sah, said the goal of economic development cannot be achieved unless industrial promotion. The cottage office has been working on developing entrepreneurship, promote local industries, employment management and establishing a climate of trust, he said.
According to a working paper presented in the function, donation terror, load shedding and insecurity are the major causes affecting industries. It said that 1,389 industries have been registered in the district.
General Secretary of Chamber of Commerce Suresh Singh said poverty can be alleviated to a great extent if the available resources and means were utilised.
