147 VAW cases reported in a month: Report

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: A total of 147 cases of violence against women were reported in media in a period of one month (mid-November to mid- December), according to a survey conducted by the Women Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC).

The Centre unveiled this data being based on the cases registered by it in this period and incidents covered by the media. The survey report shows that of the victims, 56 per cent were from the Tarai region, 33 from the hilly areas and remaining 11 per cent represent the mountainous region.The cases of women violence took place in this period was nine percent more than in the previous month (mid- October to mid-November).
