Organized by All Nepal Handwriting Institute in association with Nepalese Council and Team Nepal, the contest saw participation of 767 students from 55 schools across the nation.
The second and third positions were secured by Sadikshya Gautam, 14, and Roja Bajracharya, 16, who were presented with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000, respectively.Students Roshan Khadka from Anupam Vidya Sadan, Jyaslina Shakya from Holy Vision International School and Alisha Chowdhary from Nightingale Higher Secondary School, Anuj Sijapti from GEMS School, Benison Pradhan from Modern Indian School, Chandani Shrestha from Gorkhali English Boarding School, and Nancy Agrawal from DAV School were in the Top 10 of the contest. Education Minister Chitralekha Yadav presented them with certificates at the concluding ceremony of the program. They also received a medal, a gift hamper and a cash prize of Rs 1,000 each.
Interestingly, the youngest participant was eight-year-old Aayusha Parajuli from Aadarsha Janapremi English Higher Secondary School and the oldest participant was 72-year-old Ishwor Man Shrestha.
According to the Institute Director Indira Dangol, handwriting samples of 458 finalists have been sent from Nepal to the World Handwriting Contest in New York. The result will be declared in the first week of August.
Last year, two students Swarnima Shakya from GEMS School and Raksha Aryal from Holy Garden School won the top prizes in the Artistic Handwriting category and Cursive Handwriting category in the World Handwriting Contest, respectively.
