12 rescued from Langtang trek, four still missing after being  swept away by river

The group of 16 had set out on a trek to Langtang. Among them, four went missing after being swept away by the Bering Khola following incessent rain in October 3.

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Nepali Army has rescued 12 people who were stranded in Langtang due to floods and landslides during a trekking trip.



According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepal Army, all 12 individuals were brought to Syafrubesi in Rasuwa by Monday.

The group of 16 had set out on a trek to Langtang. Among them, four went missing after being swept away by the Bering Khola following incessent rain in October 3.


Those missing are Sanskriti Shrestha, 26, Kisan Shrestha, 25, Sanita Shrestha, 26 and Ravi Shrestha 23 all from Bhaktapur district. Of them three are from a same family.


The rescue was carried out by a team from the Shreenath Battalion of the Nepal Army.
A joint search and rescue operation involving the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force is currently underway for the search of those missing in mishap. Search efforts are being conducted at five different locations.
