A meeting of office bearers of Unified CPN (Maoist) held at its party office in Paris Danda on Monday decided to support a "progressive front" to form the government if it failed to lead the government.
The Maoists have been demanding the formation of the government under their leadership. However, they have failed to come up with the name of the party candidate for the post.
It has been reported that chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been laying stake on the post while Dr Baburam Bhattarai is seen as a tough contender to Dahal within the party.
Nepali Congress has already picked its parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Paudel while CPN UML will come up with a candidate by Monday.
