KATHMANDU, April 5; Voting has started for the 27th Central Committee election of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA).
According to Chief Election Officer Senior Advocate Ram Krishna Nirala, voting for the Central Committee election began at 8 am. Voting will continue until 4 pm.
For the new leadership of the NBA, Senior Advocate Professor Dr Bijay Prasad Mishra from the broad democratic, progressive, professional, nationalist, and inclusive lawyers' group and Senior Advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha from the professional lawyers' group are competing for the position of president.
In Senior Advocate Professor Dr Mishra's group, Senior Advocate Kedar Prasad Koirala is the candidate for the position of General Secretary, while in Senior Advocate Shrestha's group, Advocate Yagyamani Neupane is standing as a candidate.
According to Nirala, there are a total of 9,957 voters for selecting the new central committee.
A total of 57 candidates have filed nominations for the 25 positions in the new committee. There are a total of 36 voting centers, both inside and outside Kathmandu.
The Kathmandu voting center is located within the premises of the Supreme Court, where approximately 6,000 voters are registered.
