KATHMANDU, March 28: CPN-UML demonstrators broke through the police cordon at Maitighar Mandala on Saturday, taking to the streets to protest the arrest of party Chair KP Sharma Oli.
The crowd pushed past barricades and marched toward the Kathmandu District Police Range (DPR) in Bhadrakali, chanting slogans and demanding Oli’s immediate release. Tensions flared as brief scuffles erupted between protesters and security personnel.

Roads from Maitighar to Bhadrakali remain packed with demonstrators, while authorities have deployed a strong police presence to prevent clashes.
Oli, arrested early Saturday morning from Gundu, Bhaktapur, was initially brought to the Kathmandu DPR. UML has denounced the arrest as illegal and politically motivated, calling for nationwide street protests.
