Tikapur carnage: Guilty will be brought to book, says PM

TIKAPUR, Sept 26: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has taken stock of Tikapur incident of August 24 that claimed lives of nine people including eight security personnel and security situation after the carnage.

PM Koirala, who arrived here on a Nepal Army chopper on Saturday, was briefed by political parties and members of civil society among others.


On the occasion, PM Koirala said that those behind the incident will be punished.

Saying that all should take initiative to maintain social harmony, PM Koirala requested political parties and leaders of civil society to take out rally for social harmony.

He further expressed his commitments to take action against NC leader Amresh Kumar Singh who made controversial statement to jeopardize harmony among two communities.

Accompanying Koirala was Minister for Forest Mahesh Acharya, lawmaker Ananda Dhungana, Home Secretary Surya Silwal, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rajendra Chhetri, Nepal Police IGP Upendra Kanta Aryal among others.
